Koh Samui Yachting Guide - Samui Yacht Club
Regatta
The Samui Yacht Club now holds a monthly
mini-regatta for local yachters. This is
bolstered by the big yearly event – the Koh
Samui Island Regatta, and is a major
international sporting event where old
scores are settled, temperatures boil over
and secrets are revealed. Samui is soon to
have its own Royal yacht Marina, a
development of house which benefit from
personal yachts being moored on the doorstep
of residents. The breeze around the north
west of the island makes it very good for
yachting.

Catamaran charting is increasingly popular
as a holiday option for families. Yachts are
chartered from a professional company and
then taken out for an island hopping
holiday. Yachting Siam is an up and coming
company and is currently designing new
vessels. WILDERNESS 1480 - EVIA BLUE is one.
They are presently well into the build of 'Evia
Blue' a Schionning Designs Wilderness 1480
with the interior fit-out continuing apace.
Top name equipment is being fitted from
brands such as Edson, Harken and Lewmar. The
performance rig is being supplied by All
Yacht Spars and a comprehensive set of
custom sails is being designed by North.
Photos and project report coming soon.
Koh Samui is just one part of an outstanding
tropical archipelago. Anyone wishing to make
the most of the location should certainly
consider yachting. The gulf of Siam opens up
to you, with Samui’s little sister, Koh
Phangan, diving favourite Koh Tao, and
Angthong National Marine Park all within
reach. Sailing schools also operate on the
island so this is a good place to start.
